I don't recommend mixing fluids but in an emergency you can use ATF, dextron, or a hydraulic fluid like a AW32 a low temp hyd oil you can find these at any auto parts store. Suburbanite and Homesteader same plow just different color. Dealer wants $3500+ install of $450 for the Steader.Aug 15, 2007 · They have a steel trip cutting edge and the end plates are spring loaded. They are lighter then most blades and stand up very well. You can use cut a slit in a pipe and side it over the cutting edge like you mentioned, or you could use a rubber/urethane cutting edge and last, you let the snow build up into ice and then plow. either way there is going to be some gravel moved scraped off to the sides.geer hed. I have a V-plow on my truck but I wand to put a straight blade on it.If you could tip the blade forward 1-2", so the cutting edge would be more up and down. It would be the same as scraping with a skid steer bucket. You don't try to scrape hard pack with the bucket flat on the ground, you put it close to vertical and lift the front end up off the ground. Ive trimmed the wings before its very easy. Lift the plow up and bolt your new edge on. Take a long straight edge or chalk box across the existing edges and mark what you need to cut. Eyeball the bevel angle and cut it with either a circular saw or sawzall if you've got a good hand for it. It would go up and down with out any blade on it. Once I put blade on it would goo up and slowly dropped by itself. So I kept lifting it up and after about 10 times it held.
