Our huge geography and natural beauty showcases a wide variety of terrain, encompassing redwood forest, volcanic hotspots, coastal islands, deep canyons, basalt columns, sand dunes, crazy geology and strange Joshua trees (which bytheway, aren’t actually trees).

The system is administered by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, a department of the California Natural Resources Agency.
