Lots of ICU care and while outcomes overall are quite good, you will have more than your fair share of deaths no matter how good a surgeon you are. The fellowship years are the hardest of any surgical subspecialty. You will literally live at the hospital for 2 straight years. Varies depending on organ and program.This is really it.
