Poor Man’s Storage Network. As I peered hopelessly at the expensive crafting recipes for the Refined Storage and Applied Energistics items, I felt overwhelmed with a pang of sadness. Refined Storage is great for basic and simple builds, though struggles with aesthetics. AE2 is much better, though more complicated regarding channels. Sometime during 1.10 I believe, a dev decided to “remake” AE1 under a new name due to some players not enjoying the extra complexity …In terms of Compact Storage, nothing beats AE imo. Logisitics pipes may have more potent automation (and even has a bunch of specialised pipes/modules for bees) but it depends on other mods (or vanilla chests) to store things into. One note is that AE is a CONSTANT power drain, regardless of if it's doing anything.Integrated Dynamics + Refined Storage (Both Compatible) = Easy Computer Storage WIN. Screw you Applied Energistics Terminals. I honestly hate even thinking about crafting those over-complicated trash heaps. You guys are awes...It usually is preference, and I usually prefer AE2, but the big limitation of AE (each drive can only hold 63 unique items) really hurts in a way that RS doesn't struggle with at all. As a result, I can't recommend "preference" or AE2. Just pick RS and forget AE2 is even in this pack. Keep in mind you'll need a power source.

If you want super powerful automation that will let you do almost anything, applied energistics is your friend.What is the difference between Refined Storage and Applied Energistics? Refined Storage is the simpler of the two and was heavily based off of AE1. AE2 has been around for years and was a direct descendent of AE1, while RS is much younger and started mostly scratch with AE (both versions) as inspiration.Personal preference.
