Some times it will fire several shots OK but for the most part misfires are more often than not. Looking at the bases of the unfired rounds shows no sign of the firing pin striking.Jun 28, 2011 · Not sure but know that my 1947 39A the firing pin falls out of the bolt when the bolt is removed. Sure could use your help on this one... My 39M Mountie was made in 1967 and after functioning flawlessly for decades, it had developed an occasional failure to feed over the last year.I'm in the UK and have limited access to people dealing with old rimfire Marlin. There is a thread on RFC 's Marlin - H&R - NEF forum about someone having a broken 39A firing pin and having to replace it that I think has the information. Edit to Add: Just spoke to my brother on the phone, he has a collection of older Marlin 39-39A and he says on the older guns, the firing pin falls out when you remove the bolt.Easy fix. Break down the receiver, pull the bolt and the firing pin is in plain view laying in a groove along the top of the bolt. Remove the old broken firing pin, clean the groove and put in a bit of lube. The …Then remove the pin and clean It and study how it travels in the bolt raceway and what stops it. Make sure the hammer isn't hitting the receiver on either side. Then if you are still getting poor strikes and ftf,you can file the pin to reshape the tip area,or the stop lug, don't change the overall length. Nice bunch of 39A's.
