Jan 30, 2015 · 59 percent of mentored teenagers earn better grades. 27 percent of mentored youth are less likely to begin using alcohol. 52 percent of mentored youth are less likely to skip school. Youth with mentors have increased likelihood of going to college, better attitudes toward school, increased social and emotional development, and improved self-esteem. A mentor is an older child or adult who can be a role model for your child. Mentors spend quality time with a child. They offer support, encouragement, and fun. Kids who have a mentor tend to do better in school and have higher self-esteem. Some kids could use some extra help or a confidence boost outside of school.
