What are your thoughts overall on these types of programs? There only seem to be a few of these programs, all at extremely competitive hospitals. ...I did a month-long derm rotation(am a EM resident) during Covid and saw a lot of telemedicine and the idea of doing a telemedicine only practice in Derm seems like taking all the worst parts of Derm and doing that all day long.

That being said, a research year should afford you some free time to work on the side in gigs like tutoring for high school or MCAT/college. I think you could easily earn $40/hr tutoring high school and do that 3x a week for 2 hrs each time.
