CoffeeLock is an options, but not particularly strong RAW because, as of Xanathar's Guide, you need to make long rests or you start taking levels of exhaustion on failed CON saves. Because of this, the build is only as strong as the DM allows it to be, by virtue of how often you can short rest, and many spells the CoffeeLock needs to spend between them in combat, puzzle, or social encounters.The Coffeelock build has been a concept that has bounced around since 5e first came out, so there are still many outlines for the build-out there that don't rely on newer content. Also per JC there are two valid interpretations of the multiclassing rules, one of which completely shuts down the interaction that is the basis for the coffeelock. Basically the Coffeelock does or does not work solely based on the DM, and the DM has been impowered to rule either way by a lead designer for DnD 5e. Any spell that breathes life into the dead (including revivify , raise dead , resurrection, and true resurrection) automatically fails if cast on a humanoid whose soul is either trapped in the Soulmonger or has been devoured by the atropal (see " Soul Devouring " below).
