Az Odderon létezését 1973-ban vetette fel először L. Lukaszuk és B. Niculescu. Az Odderon részecske felfedezésére, mérési adatokból történő biztonságos kimutatására azonban 2021-ig kellett várni. A magyar-svéd kutatócsoport elsőként találta meg először az Odderon létezésének egyértelmű jelét kísérleti adatokban.
