There are no internal mechanical differences between the Gen5 G19 and the G19X, except (temporarily) the ejector. Buy the G19X if you find the ability to use 15-round magazines confusing. The G19X eliminates that severe disadvantage. Plus you get a polymer lanyard attachment that is less secure than the old traditional hole in the backstrap.One thing I have notice is that the reset felt and appeared to be a bit shorter on the G45. This could be just subjective. I don't have the capability to really measure this so I decided to fully disassemble both. Comparing part numbers everything was the same except for the slide stops. I've run the G19X in IDPA and my times are slower than my G19 Gen5 due to that lack of flared magwell, I fumbled a couple reloads. Both are excellent guns. The M17/M18 has true military lineage. The G19X was a great contender. But, both pretty much sit in the safe nowadays while I shoot my run of the mill Glock 19's.Seems like a lot of people complain about the additional length of the grip over the g19 but it seems like it’s only .5” more on the g45. People seem to be up in arms about the additional length that it makes it very tough to conceal. It seems the 17 frame would make it a much more comfortable gun with better capacity.
