It's just building wall frames that causes the errors and crashes. It could be some of the custom tiles mods that could be causing it. Not sure which one or ones that it could be though. Will have to try to when I get the chance. I have recently started playing Zomboid again after a long time away from the game.

No amount of zombies should be able to tear down a log or metal wall when they're on the "weak" strength setting, though. Barricades, sure. Wooden doors, sure. Glass windows and doorways, definitely. You need to rotate the wall. When trying to place the wall, click and drag towards your character to rotate the piece. There won’t be any visual changes, but it’ll work. Your character is trying to build from the outside, which obviously isn’t accessible.

If I remember correctly, log walls are stronger at low levels of carpentry, but as you get higher the plank walls surpass them. I don't think the difference is ever too massive, but once you get carpentry up it's probably a smart idea to start making proper walls due to material usage, unless you literally have a forest directly next to where you're building, maybe.
