I just traded for a 1988-1993 honda fourtrax 300 2x4 not sure on the year exactly serial number is gone. The problem im having is that the atv is not getting spark to the plug. The PO said they was riding the honda around and shut if off usign the killswitch instead of the key which im thinking isnt a problem but anyways they said they went to ...I have a 93 4wd 300 and I have been chasing a no spark problem. I have no spark and NO voltage to the Coil via the Black w/yellow wire. I have 12v on the Black w/white wire at the CDI on the 2 wire plug. There is continuity on the Black w/yellow wire from the Coil to the CDI. There is continuity on the Lite Green wire from the Neutral Safety Switch to the CDI.

The gear indicator is continuously blinking "-" on the dash. There are no DTCs (flashing check engine light). I have gone through and tested all the wiring and harnesses as per the factory service manual except for these two things: 1.) replacing pcm with a known good one and 2.)testing peak voltage of the ckp sensor.check the fuse holder at the starter solenoid, make sure it is good, power in, and power out, on both sides of the fuse !. Just assuming since my neutral light is on and i have power to my headlight, i have power in/out that fuse, i did check the fuse and it is good. The valve clearance won't have anything to do with the ATV having a spark, but the wrong valve clearance can keep it from running. In addition to the stator, a no spark issue could be caused by a bad ignition coil, a bad pulse generator, or a bad CDI.

If it has no spark try tapping on the CDI box gentle when cranking if it fires then the box is bad. If ya get it goin I'd replace the plug with an iridium plug, more stable spark and starts easier and it'll last a long time.
