Depends on your definition of pretty high, but there are several reason why I don't equip Daeran with armour and a shield. All the good spell-boosting weapons are staffs which prohibit the use of a shield, and +2 DC > +8 AC on pure casters. He would need a +6 STR belt to use medium armour and a shield, which would be a huge waste.I think ultimately, the most successful builds do not take a blind approach to the playthrough of the game, meaning you have a good idea of each act, the best party synergy, a general strategy for certain encounters/bosses, etc. Sometimes a great build will look like a trash without without this knowledge.Out of the path nonspecific companions, Camellia, Lann, Wenduag, Woljif, Regill, Arueshalae.
