Hello all. I have been adjusting the valves on the bike using the feeler gauge supplied in the on bike tool kit. The spec in two different books I have states the gap as .002 inch or .05 mm. During a valve adjustment yesterday, I decided to measure the guage I have been using, and it measures .004 inch and .10 mm (respectivly)!!.If you find it necessary to manually adjust the tension then yes you push down on the top of the tensioner blade in the green circle. Some chain noise is normal, a quiet cam chain is overtightened. I need the correct procedures to adjust engine idle speed on my Honda TRX400EX. ... Be certain the valve clearance is within factory spec. Valve clearance should be 0.15 (0.006) for both intake and exhaust (1995-2007) models. Check cylinder compression and change the engine oil and filter. Engine Idle Speed Adjustment . 1.One way to check on this is to set the engine to TDC, then set the clearance for .006" like you have been doing, then turn the engine over slowly by hand a little each way.
