Criteria are listed for international students (who are also KU School of Medicine students) to participate in the Clinical Electives Program.The Clinical Electives Program is a great opportunity for international students to enhance their medical knowledge by gaining practical, hands-on skills. Domestic medical students may begin to apply for the 2023 - 2024 academic year starting on March 13, 2023 in VSLO. International medical students may begin to apply for the 2024 year starting September 4, 2023 via our website. Visiting students should not contact departments or course directors requesting rotations. 11:59PM.Clinical Electives are offered for four (4) week periods only for visiting medical students. Below are the elective periods for the academic year. Students may apply for a maximum of three (3) four (4) week electives through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) website. 2022/2023 Academic Year.Spaces are filled quickly and well in advance. If you are accepted for an elective, you can come to KU Medical Center on a B-1 or ESTA (if applicable) visa. Each clinical elective module is four weeks. Students are required to stay for the complete module. When a student has been accepted into a clinical elective, that elective may not be changed.
