Our objective is to introduce you to the fundamentals of seismic data processing with a learn-by-doing approach. We do this with Seismic Un*x (SU), a free software package maintained and distributed by the Center for Wave Phenomena (CWP) at the Colorado School of Mines (CSM).

The North China Craton records multiple metamorphic events related to supercontinent assembly during the Paleoproterozoic, forming Columbia, and again during the late Paleozoic, forming Pangea. The Decade of North American Geology offers a comprehensive look at the geology of North America. These valuable volumes, including field guides, large maps, and transects, are available as $9.99 PDF downloads.

Barite occurs throughout the geologic record as massive beds, laminations, rosettes, and nodules. The most important scientific and economic occurrences of barite are stratabound and stratiform massive beds from the Early Archean and the Early to Middle Paleozoic.Geology has been the Web of Science's #1 ranked "geology" journal for 15 years in a row. The journal Geology publishes timely, innovative, and provocative articles relevant to its international audience, representing research from all fields of the geosciences. Full-text available for all issues.Application of sequence-stratigraphic analysis depends on the recognition of a hierarchy of stratal units including beds, bedsets, parasequences, parasequence sets, and sequences bounded by chronostratigraphically significant surfaces of erosion, nondeposition, or their correlative surfaces.
