Project zomboid gunshot

I know there exist events like sudden loud sounds in the background (screams, dogs etc.). After excatly 4 days and 8 hours I heard a gunshot in the background (this could not be another player because I was playing in single player mode). Can this sound bring a zombie horde to my base or is it rather to scare the player?

Usage. A CD is used in conjunction with a ValuTech PortaDisc to entertain the player. CDs feature a variety of music and audiobooks from the world of Project Zomboid. Most retail CDs are parodies of songs from the early 1990s and function solely to reduce the player character's boredom, and produce some light amusement in the player themselves.Guns can be loud, Shotguns are the loudest and the P36 is the quietest. My current character cares nothing for noise. Infact, the sound of a shotgun is music to his ears, as it is the sweet sound of a dinner bell, summoning zombies from all over. So there is likely to be a horde moving in your local area. Depending on the noise made in your base and the type of base you have will have a chance that those zombies will attack it. I should point out that this works better the dumber your zombies are but it's still possible with survival zombies. This won't work of course with slingshots or any other silent weapon. It's also most effective with shotguns. You will have slow accuracy but the spread of the weapon seems to make up for it a bit.I think they should be increased 50% from where they are now for the shotgun at least. I read a lot about guns being basically a suicide dinner bell, tried the game with MP and yeah, zombies that are really pretty damn close are not reacting at all to the shotgun, and it's definitely not a 100 tile range, it's more like half of that. Should I: A) Get ready for combat, as the zombies know I'm in there? or B) Quietly move deeper into my home, as the zombies are just pathfinding through my home and won't even know I'm in there? or C) Leave the house while they're distracted on my defenses and make a desperate escape on foot?
