I'm contemplating the idea of buying a Ducati st2 made in 1999. 35k miles, the guy wants around 800$. it needs a new battery and new fairings (I can go without fairings for the time being) new chain tyres and sprocket. I know these bikes can go over 100k miles if well taken care of, but I wanted your opinion on what to check and what ... Iād say $800-$1,000 every 7,500 miles for service at the dealership. I recently got my 15,000 mile service done and will be going to a local shop with certified Ducati mechanics thatās cheaper. Here a valve service is $2k , mid inspection $1k . miscellaneaous self induced stuff$500 every 10k. Electronics read out $100 . Both have more power than you can legally use anyways lol. The V4 is certainly smoother than the twin the Diavel has. Personally, I like the raw, visceral feeling of the twins better. Both have a nice host of electronics, Ducati safety pack, etc. Looks are all about preference, I like the naked SF better. My options are the following: - (BRAND NEW) Stock regular BMW S1000RR: 21,000EUR. - (BRAND NEW) Ducati Panigale V2: 21,000 EUR. - (USED, 7000 miles) Ducati Panigale V4 2021: 19,000EUR. However the dry clutch will make your hand go numb in a hour. Not meant for city traffic. The 1199 has better electronics but it's too torquey. Also the first production 1199 has some gremlins. The later year models are better. You lose a bit of that rough Ducati rawness-- but the bike is simply sublime. I'm debating now between SF and Multi, riding them both back to back has me super confused. I personally picked the V2S. Amazing machine. Plenty of power, lighter, lots of torque.
