My 1895ABL 45-70 is sighted in dead on at 50 yards with 325 Leverevolution, but virtually all my deer hunting is done at less than 100 yards, and 80% at 50 yards or less. Major downsides are the 450 uses a slightly larger bullet vs the 444 Marlin, however, the Marlin loads use the powders and primers I already have while the bushy would require small primers and faster powders than I currently use. As a matter of fact, in the rifle you mentioned with 18.5" barrel, the .450 will deliver pretty much full blown 45-70 LE performance from that short barrel, and be about 200 FPS faster than the 45-70 shooting the same factory bullet weight in the same barrel length and carrying 500 FPE more as well. I call that significant.

They both get around the same velocities with the same bullet weights. The only difference between either, of course, is the .429 bore for the 444, or the .458 bore for the .45-70.
