Here is what I have done since then to try to get it to start: 1. Removed the old fuel in the Rubicon and replaced it with new fuel. 2. Opened the carb and cleaned it out with carb cleaner. 3. Cleaned out the air cleaner housing. I checked and the carb is getting fuel. 2002 rubicon 500 Discussion starter. 78 posts · Joined 2006. #1 · Jun 26, 2020 (Edited) So basically, when I start the ATV, the gear selection display blinks all three options (D1/D2/ESP) and continues to do so no matter what gear you select. Also where it typically indicates what gear your in ie 1, 2, 3, D, etc is not showing anything.Jun 28, 2021 · 02 500 rubicon goes into limpmode. I have a 02 500 4x4 with the hondamatic has 3600 miles on it.. I bought this quad a few months ago it was rough to say the least.. its been nothing but problems 😪 when I first got it the speedometer didn't work and wasn't showing the gear it was in and it going into limpmode.. The problem is in the failure of the bearings and pistons and valves in the hydraulic system between the clutch gear to the outer pump housing on the clutch side and the output shaft of the hondamatic on the flywheel side. I could rebuild mine but honda got nahci bearing to make odd size bearing.49mm x 85mm x 19mm thick.I’d also pull the petcock to check the fuel screen, and maybe spray some oil around the intake manifold with the machine running to check for an air leak. It gets louder and finally will destroy the hondamatic.
