New Brighton State Beach is an awesome place to go for a walk along the beach with a dog or a human friend. There is camping available, but make sure you make your arrangements beforehand. Sometimes I see people surf fishing here, but I don't know how successful they are. When the swell is just right, you will see surfers surfing here.
