For Sea Dragons, just stay in the PRAWN if you can hear them roaring. They tend to prefer ranged attacks, which are easy enough to dodge with the grappling arm.The most dangerous seems to be the leviathans and the crash in the early game. While a defense system is useful for early game and in general, it is not entirely needed. You can just repair it once you are far enough from the threat.
