The Caney River ( Lenape: Kènii Sipu [4]) is a 180-mile-long (290 km) [2] river in southern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma. The river is a tributary of the Verdigris River, and is usually a flatwater stream. The Caney forms just north of the town of Grenola in Elk County, Kansas, then moves south into Oklahoma near Elgin, Kansas.The Blue River (also known as the Big Blue River) is a 39.8-mile-long (64.1 km) [3] stream that flows through Johnson County, Kansas, and Jackson County, Missouri, in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The river rises in Johnson County, Kansas at the confluence of Coffee Creek and Wolf Creek near the border of the states of Kansas and Missouri.
