On our first ride, my wife noticed a sway in the rear of the trike. I checked tire pressure and found it to be high. I started lowering and the handling got worse and the sway remained. I went back to 33 in rear tires and 41 in front.Since you deemed it unnecessary to post the mileage I will have to guess it's "up there" . Here's what I would do: Go to Harbor Freight or wherever and get a mechanic's stethoscope. Listen down around there while turning the rear wheel. I have a Super Glide in the truck that has no height adjustments. My old pinbox has one more set of holes to raise it up higher. I have enough clearance right now but nothing extra on my bedrails.But a wider tire would increase breaking. Larger patch of rubber = more friction between tire and road = more stopping power. But so many tires are designed with a directional tread. Meant to roll only one way. Reversing the rotation, IMO, would at the very least reduce tread life.
