Reminds me when my roommate tried to cut a boot off of his car. Got caught and huge fine. Ended up in court, police said he damaged the boot and it had to be replaced at a very high cost ( like $5k). He told the judge he would be happy paying to replace it, but he wanted the ‘broken’ as he was paying for a new one.
